Ronald Lawless, Commissioner - Exploratory Committee

Citizens test the waters for a 2010 Cook County Commissioner (First District) bid

While to some it may seem too early to look at the 2010 elections, the supporters of Ronald Lawless feel otherwise. We share the feeling that time is "our friend."  This is especially true when the campaign is based on the input and participation of everyday people.

At a time when the voters of Illinois feel as though we live in a sea of corruption from state, county, and local government, we must support leaders like Ronald Lawless who will begin to restore faith in our democracy.  We must revitalize a government that is committed to the people. It is the interests of the people that are paramount.

Lawless plans to spend the first part of 2009 visiting people and organizations throughout the First District of Cook County, meeting and speaking with voters and talking to elected officials to gauge voter and financial support for a possible candidacy for Commissioner of the First District of Cook County.  "I have been thinking about running ever since the county commissioners – including the commissioner of the First District – voted to raise taxes, giving us the most regressive and unfair sales tax in the nation," Lawless recently noted.  "When county officials were called on to cut back to save taxpayers' money, the commissioner of the First District decided to increase her office budget … while at the same time many of your neighbors were losing their homes to foreclosure or struggling to pay rising utilities and taxes.”

Through the next few months, Lawless 2010 will be asking you to show support by signing up to be part of our Imagine the Possibility Team. Our goals are to help raise funds, organize meet-and-greet events with neighbors, and organize volunteers where you feel comfortable.  At the same time, Ron wants to meet as many individuals as possible to gain an understanding of the interests and concerns of people throughout the District. In fact, he shares this message with everyone in the District: "I look forward to your input and participation and thank you in advance for your support."

Our future lies in your hands.
